About Ghibli Woven Bags

Ghibli’s woven bags represent the artistry in production that sets the brand apart. Ghibli uses only the unique labor-intensive, "Tubular" weaving technique. This ancient warping method carefully treats each leather strap through an extensive process where the skin edges are folded and threaded through a specialized loom with rollers. This method folds the leather onto itself, creating a single, uniform strap that features quality leather on both sides. After that, a highly experienced artisan begins to weave the leather straps, placing them on an ancient wooden mold. The bag is then skillfully woven in a seamlessly single piece on the mold without any stitching, minimizing any material waste typically associated with conventional weaving methods. There are very few artisans who can make bags woven using the tubular method today. The finished bag maintains its shape without stretching, eliminates the need for lining, and preserves the supple texture of natural leather. All this allows Ghibli to create a truly durable bag. The entire manufacturing process is exclusively handcrafted and 100% completed at Ghibli's factory in Italy.

Made to Order Selections:

Ghibli can take up to 2 months to create their pieces and an additional week to ship to us. Production time highly depends on designer's workload. Estimated production time will be emailed for your approval after you place your pre-order. A 50% deposit will be charged only after you agree to the estimated production time for your selection. We cover international duty fees.

The majority of our made-to-order items are handcrafted by designers and artisans, putting love and care into each unique piece.

More available colors and materials without mass production. Ghibli's bags are available in genuine Italian leather or Japanese denim.
